Tempranillo

Tempranillo is a premier Spanish black grape variety known for producing medium-to-full-bodied red wines with moderate tannins and, often, a rustic, savory character. Renowned for its early ripening ("temprano" means early), it typically offers flavors of red cherry, plum, blackberry, and dill, often aged in American oak to add notes of vanilla, tobacco, and leather.

Key Characteristics:
Color & Body: Medium ruby to garnet, medium-to-full body.
Taste Profile: Bright red fruits (strawberry, cherry), savory notes (dried tomato, olive), with vanilla and dill from oak aging.
Structure: Balanced acidity and smooth, moderate tannins.
Region/Origin: Primarily from Spain (Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Toro), where it is often called Tinta Roriz or Aragonéz in Portugal.
Food Pairing: Highly versatile, pairing well with roasted lamb, tapas, chorizo, and grilled meats.
